Toyota has confirmed the launch of a new version of the Prius, which will see it introduced in 2020.
The brand said the 2018 model will be the first to have an electric drivetrain.
“It is the first Prius to offer a fully electric drive system,” the company said in a statement.
“This is based on the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid.
The car also features a new engine with a larger combustion chamber, which is expected to reduce noise and emissions, according to Toyota.”
Toyota will also make use of the powertrain of the 2018 Prius plug-in hybrid in 2020 with the introduction of the Toyota Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) model.
“Toyota also revealed a new 4runner for 2020, which features a smaller 4cylinder engine, the first Toyota vehicle to feature the fuel-injected system.
Toyota said the 2020 model will feature the “next-generation” 5-speed manual transmission.”
The new 4Runner will also feature the latest connectivity features and features in-line with the latest technologies,” the brand said.
The company said the vehicle will also have “the most sophisticated safety features”, including a rearview camera, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring.”
In 2020, the new Prius will be available in four trim levels: standard, Premium, Limited and Club,” the statement read.”
Premium trim offers a higher level of features, while Limited and Clubs are offered in both standard and Limited Edition.
“The 2018 Priuses will cost €33,495.
