Toyota recalls over 2.5 million Lexus cars with faulty air bags
AUSTIN, Texas — Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) is recalling over 2 million vehicles with defective air bags and replacement parts.
The company is recalling the 2016-18 Lexus RX 350, 2017-18 F-Class, 2019-20 F-Prime, 2019 Lexus ES 350, 2019 F-150, 2018 Lexus LX 350, 2018 Toyota Camry, 2017 Toyota Prius, 2019 Toyota Corolla, 2019 and 2018 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2019 Camry FJ, 2018 and 2018 Lexacruz.
Toyota says the defective air bag inflators can fail under certain conditions and cause the air bags to fail, causing a crash.
The inflators are supposed to provide a safe environment for passengers and occupants to survive a crash, according to Toyota.
The recall includes a range of vehicles and features.
Toyos vehicles affected include the 2016 Lexus R-X, 2018-20 Lexus LS, 2019 Subaru WRX, 2019 Scion xB, 2019 Mazda MX-5, 2019 Hyundai Sonata, 2019 Nissan LEAF, 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, 2019 BMW i3, 2019 Cadillac ATS, 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan, 2019 Audi Q7, 2019 Jaguar XE, 2019 Ford Focus ST, 2018 Volvo XC90, 2018 Mazda MX6, 2019 Volvo XLE, 2018 Honda Accord, 2018 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, 2018 Hyundai Accent, 2018 Audi Q5, 2018 BMW X6, 2018 Mercedes-AMG G63, 2018 Subaru Legacy, 2018 Jaguar XJ, 2017 Nissan Altima, 2017 Subaru Outback, 2017 Mazda CX-5 and 2017 Hyundai Sonuga 2.
The affected vehicles are made from a combination of composite materials and are designed to fit in vehicles of all sizes and shapes.
Toyotas vehicles include the following models:Lexus RX, RX 350 , RX Prime, Prime Sport, Prime X, Prime XL, RX Sport, RX X and RX Sport SE.
All models with air bags, including the 2017 Lexus NX, NX Hybrid, NX Sport, NX EX and NX EX Plus, will be recalled.
The air bags are designed for use on passenger vehicles, including SUVs, light trucks, minivans and other vehicles.
