When the next Tundra is ready?
A new toyota Corolla sedan will hit the road next year and, once the automaker’s global brand reaches an estimated market value of $10 billion, will be the most powerful car on the road.
But what about the future?
The Tundras are a little late to the game, given that Toyota’s Corolla brand was first introduced in 1992 and Toyota had already sold more than 200 million Corollas, which were sold as high-end sedans.
But, the Toyota brand is growing rapidly, and the company has been looking to move into the high-performance segment of the market.
“Toyota is looking at this as a big opportunity,” said Anupam Jain, senior vice president and general manager of automotive and engineering at Toyota Motor Corp. “Toyota has seen the resurgence of the Corolla and we are looking at it as a long-term driver of growth.”

The company has already launched the Corotas SRT and CTS and plans to launch its new Corotra and Corolla as high performance cars.
“There is a tremendous opportunity in this space,” said Toyota CTO Hiroshi Matsumoto.
“There are a lot of people out there that are looking for a high-powered car that is going to have performance and fuel efficiency.”
Toyotas sales jumped to 1.2 million vehicles in 2018 from about 1.1 million in 2017.
That was a 25% increase from the previous year, and a significant increase over the previous two years, which saw sales increase by 16%.
The company has also been making big strides in the mid-market segment.
Its Corolla crossover is the only high-mileage sedan in the segment, and it has helped it gain traction in that segment.
The crossover, which was developed as an SUV, is the fastest selling sedan in Toyota’s history and has been a hit with buyers.
“Our mid- and mid-size crossover is driving the sales momentum,” said Jain.
“We are getting more and more buyers into the mid and mid size crossover.”

The Corus, which launched in 2011, is a midsize sedan that will likely have a range of 30,000 to 45,000 miles.
In a recent interview with AutoPacific, Toyota CFO Yasuhito Hirai said the company is looking to launch two high-volume midsize models in 2018 and 2019, but he did not specify which ones.
“We are planning on two models in 2019,” Hirai told AutoPacific.
“One is a high volume model, and that is a hybrid that is available in the US and in Europe.
The other is a lower volume model that will come to market in 2020.”
The company is also developing a range-topping electric sedan that would be similar to a hybrid or electric vehicle, Hirai added.
Toyota has not revealed pricing details for either model.
“The hybrid is coming later this year and we will be introducing the vehicle in 2020,” Hiray said.
Toyota also has been ramping up its EV business.
The Japanese automaker has sold more electric vehicles than any other automaker in the world.
The company’s EV range is expected to hit more than 300,000 by 2020, up from around 200,000 in 2020.
In 2019, the company sold 1.7 million Corolla EV, plug-in hybrid vehicles and plug-ins to consumers.
The Toyota Corolla will have a fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
The new CorollA crossover will be available in 2019.
The Toyota C-HR, which is expected in the 2020s, will have an MSRP of $37,900.
The T-Sport is expected next year, according to the company.
