Toys ‘R’ Us buys Amazon and Kmart for $6 billion

Toys ‘r’ Us, the popular online retailer, has announced it has purchased Amazon and the Kmart stores from Walmart for $18.6 billion.

In a statement, Toys ‘N’ More President Steve Ballmer said: “The combination of Amazon and Walmart creates a true online retailer and brings us closer to our goal of offering more value to customers through more personalized merchandise, better online shopping experiences and better access to the latest and greatest online products.”

Toys ‘R’, Us has more than 5,500 stores in Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere.

It also operates over 100 stores in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

It has more locations than any other online retailer.

Toys “R” Us will keep its headquarters in Walnut Creek, Calif., and expand into new markets.
